I want to show you that Barcelona and its surroundings, the Maresme region and Catalonia itself are much more than cheap tapas, football and endless sandy beaches.
It also reveals to curious, inquisitive eyes the side of the country where you'll find wines made from Mediterranean sun-ripened grapes, unspoilt beaches accessible only by sailing boat, or Michelin-starred restaurants hiding in vibrant cities.
My aim is that on these small family trips, you will not only get away from your everyday life, but also fill your body and soul with quality flavours and meaningful experiences. If you want to go on a trip with just your family, friends or colleagues, we are happy to organise private tours, or we can even cater for your individual needs!
Why wine?
My mother is from Hungary, Szekszárd, my grandmother grew up in Szajk and lived in Tolna for 50 years. So wine and Szekszárd wine culture have always been part of my life. In 2015 I graduated from the Soós István Wine College in Budafok. As part of my studies, I spent several months of my internship at one of the outstanding artisan wineries in the wine region of Naples, where I got to know the local wines and the processes and technology of local winemaking. I have also worked in several wine regions in Hungary, both in event management and wine marketing.
What do I do?
In 2006, after graduating from the International Business School (Oxford Brookes University) with a degree in English Marketing, I built a career in the business world: working on the client and agency side, with various detours, my husband and I eventually started our own PR company. Although communications in this form is no longer part of my life, I make great use of the valuable experience I have gained in the fields of organisation, networking, marketing and event management when organising tours.
Why Spain?
After a surprise holiday gone well, my husband and I sat out on our terrace and over a glass of wine decided to move to Spain, near Barcelona. So in the summer of 2023 we decided to take the plunge and since then I've been living my daily life in the Maresme region.
It's not the first time I've moved abroad, my family lived in Mauritius for four years when we were children, and my husband and I travelled around Asia a few years ago with just a backpack on our backs.
After leaving the world of PR and moving away from my home environment, I had the idea that I would like to do something about wine and wine culture again, and from there the concept of my current business has evolved step by step.
How The Marella Experience was born
I believe that a combination of knowledge and experience enables me and my team to deliver the best possible experience to our guests, which is why I started a Triple Master degree programme in Tourism Management, and after completing my studies I will be graduating with a joint degree from the University of Geneva (SSBM Geneva), the University of Rome (RBS) and the International University of Valencia (VIU).
I hope that the knowledge gained here will also help me to organise expereience tours that you will count among your best holidays.
